SHEPHERD  TALK

What are some of the things that the West Main Shepherds are talking about these days?  Check out the following:

1.  We are listening to the Deacons on selling the property on Kings Hwy in order to pay off the indebtedness of the church to become debt free and free up the debt service funds for desirable ministries.  It is likely that the sale of the property would hardly cover the indebtedness.  We will look forward to asking the whole church for your views.

2.  We are visiting with the Deacons as a group and one by one to  involve each one  in a greater way consistent with their giftedness.  We desire that the Deacons become more vital in the growth of the church and central to its mission.

3.  We are talking about how to respond to the growth needs of the whole church.  Some of the results are offering a series on debt free living (Financial Peace University), seminars on family themes, the West Main Bible Institute for gaining more Bible knowledge, youth activities, etc.

4.  We are frequently talking about how to improve what we do:  how to be better administrators of our resources, how to improve our worship services, our classes, how to make better use of our facilities, etc.

5.  Every year we do a rather thorough review of our ministers, Terry Christopher and Brian Pannell.  We evaluate each among the eldership and meet with them and discuss all aspects of our work together and our goals both past and future.  We are so impressed with how effectively each of the ministers work among us and work harmoniously with each other.

6.  We have approached several people who have taken on fuller responsibilities:

A.  Bob and Joan Tisdel will replace Larry and Lynn Albright in coordinating the activities of senior members.  Likewise, Bob will be doing  needed repairs around the building.

B.  Josh  and Chaley  Johnson will coordinate the Prayer Warriors.

C.  Mike and Carlena Eddy will coordinate the WBS correspondence.

D.  Stephen Liles will coordinate contacts with guests to our worship services to schedule Bible Studies.

E.  Russ and Shawna Gann will coordinate the James II program.

F.  Randy Sweet will coordinate the Orphan Assistance program.

7.  We have spent considerable time in prayer and rejoicing over baptisms that have taken place - Jeff Confer, Eris Murphy, and Preston Dixon; those who were sick are improving; for sacrificial giving both in the regular Sunday contributions and in special gifts to the Mexican Mission (Dinner/Auction); and in the gifts to the Bible Camp and Mexican Mission by the Siskiyou brethren.

8.  We will bid farewell to some active, beloved members who will be going to Portland sometime after May:  Larry and Lynn Albright and Terry and Debra Burchett.

We welcome Larry Denn back from hip replacement surgery and are pleased that Mel Hamilton is becoming more mobile after the tragic ladder accident in December of 2010.

We love you in Christ,

Mel Hamilton, Charlie Anderson,  Truman Scott,  Larry Denn, Gerry Flock, Lance Lake, Ron Zielke and Dan Beeks

OUR NEW DIRECTORIES are ready and are on the information table in the courtyard.  Please take only one copy per family - the directories in the binders are for our new members.

**We want to extend a special thank you to all the people who helped with our directory - Sandra Cummings, for taking all of the directory photos and to Chaley Johnson for designing our front cover with photos supplied by Harvey Martin and Brian Pannell.
