CAMP FUNDRAISER DINNER & AUCTION

Saturday, May 19, 6:00 p.m.

Fireside Room

This year, as we do every year, we are asking you to join us in a fun filled evening to raise money for camp! We need your prayers and financial support. (Bring your checkbooks!)

We need items to auction off and we need buyers for those items.   PLEASE BRING: baked goods, art work, gift certificates, photography, woodworking, etc. to be auctioned off! ANYTHING that you’d like to part with and others would want to buy…we will sell!

We will begin the night with a delicious dinner (donations towards the cost of food would be appreciated!). We cannot wait to see ALL OF YOU there! Call Brian with any questions.

Covenant Eyes

We are encouraged throughout the scriptures to lead holy and pure lives. When we lead lives that are holy and pure God is able to use us in his service effectively. Holiness and purity must be evident in all aspects of our lives, in our actions and in our thoughts. We must be careful about what we listen to and what we look at. The use of pornography prevents us from leading lives of holiness and purity. Statistics tell us that the use of pornography by Christians is very common, both by men and by women. There are three anchors that make the use of pornography so tempting and difficult to resist. The anchors are affordability, accessibility and anonymity. The internet is the largest media used to distribute pornography. Pornography can be viewed for free or through payments with a credit card. It can be accessed by computers, phones, and even game consoles. The greatest lure of pornography is that it can be viewed when we are by ourselves and no one else will know that we have been using it.

The use of pornography is not a harmless activity. It affects our thinking about what a normal relationship should be and how to live in a normal relationship. The use of pornography is cited as one of the major reasons for divorce. It changes our views about what a normal sexual relationship should be.

There are tools to help us combat this desire and sin. The first is to have a deep love of God and a solid understanding of the work of the Holy Spirit in resisting sin in our lives (Gal. 5:16). A second tool is a website called Covenant Eyes. Covenant Eyes is devoted to educating people of the dangers of pornography and for providing accountability software that monitors when a user accesses pornographic sites on the internet. They provide free e-books to help educate parents, husbands, wives and children about the dangers of pornography. A Porn Free Church is an excellent e-book about who uses pornography, the effects of pornography on relationships, how to counsel someone using pornography and God’s grace and forgiveness. They also have books on how to protect kids from porn and how pornography affects our minds. The e-books are found on the website http://www.covenanteyes.com/. There is a link on the bottom of the page that will take you to the e-books for use in the church. We will make some copies and have them available in the foyer area if you do not have the internet. Covenant Eyes does charge for the use of its accountability software, there is another website that has accountability software that is free. The website with free accountability software is www.XXXchurch.com.
