CAMP IS COMING!!
Camp is coming faster than we can prepare! It is a landmark year, as we will say goodbye to our beloved Box R. This comes with many bittersweet memories, some uncertainty and trepidation, and trust in God for our future. Our goal however is to “go big” and make our last year very special in praising God for the many amazing things he did for us during our years at Box R.
Camp is an invaluable ministry in this family. The connections, commitments and salvation that take place there each year cannot be measured! The kingdom work that occurs there is special. There is a “community experience” that takes place at camp that can ONLY happen at camp, and it is special. It is a “whole person” ministry experience that can only happen at camp. Relationships are built there, often inter-generationally that don’t happen in Sunday church. Memories made at camp last lifetimes. And every year, ALL of you help with that. Therefore, we are asking you once again to help out. We need your financial support.
PLEASE mark your calendars for Friday, May 17. It will be our Annual Camp Dinner and Auction. We will be serving a WONDERFUL meal and sharing stories, laughs, and memories. We will be auctioning off baked goods, which is a wonderful tradition, as well as some amazing artisan products such as handmade chairs, photography, artwork, etc. There will REALLY be some special things you may be interested in!
We need your support! I am boldly asking you to help us reach our financial goals. In other words, please bring a big checkbook. :) We cannot keep camp as affordable as we always do, without your support. I ask that you pray now about how you can give.
We are confident that God will once again bless this week mightily! I thank you all in advance. If you have any questions or want to volunteer to help, please contact me ASAP!

IN SEARCH OF ORDER -- PART ONE
Outstanding scientists in the past have made leap-frog advances in discovery because they expected to find order in the natural world. Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein are examples of men who were able to couch experimental findings in mathematical language as their means of discovery. Intuition, guided by their search for order, also played a crucial part.
Today, scientists are still looking for order – from the ends of deep space to the tiny world of the atom. As for that small, small world, marvelous patterns of order are currently unfolding.
The name “atom” is from the Greek language meaning “indivisible,” and came from thinking that atoms could not be broken into smaller parts. In my early days of schooling, atoms were then known to be made up of a nucleus composed of protons and neutrons, surrounded by successive shells of electrons. My oversimplified view was that atoms were like miniature solar systems with orbiting electrons instead of planets. It said to me that the many beautiful designs of our Creator are often similar. But I was to find that his mind is not simplistic like mine. I was soon challenged to grasp a new variation in his theme of spherical structures.
We were also exposed to Mendeleev’s orderly table of nearly a hundred atomic elements. He found that if they were listed in the order of their atomic weights, repetitive patterns could be seen. Atoms, in his table that had the same positions in their different lines, also had similar character (i.e. carbon and silicon). Order was evident. His table represented a giant step in the understanding of chemistry. It allowed prediction of the behavior of atoms as they bond with others while forming molecules.
At the time of the beginning of World War II, great interest was centered on the energy stored in the nuclei of atoms, and how some of the larger ones, like uranium, could be triggered to break up, releasing enormous amounts of energy. What came next is well known history; nuclear bombs were built and deployed in war.
When it was known that atoms could be broken into parts, the natural question arose asking if the parts of atoms might also be broken into still smaller parts. An army of minds attacked this question with the resulting discovery of several kinds of atomic subunits that were given imaginative names like quarks (six kinds), neutrinos (three kinds), as well as our familiar electrons (now with three kinds). There were also new particles associated with fields, like photons, gluons, Z & W particles, and the newly found Higgs particle.
Like Mendeleev’s table, these subatomic particles could also be arranged in a table that displays order. It is called the “Standard Model,” and seventh graders will soon have to learn about it alongside Mendeleev’s work.
What then of the claims that all of this order came into being by chance? Should we not rather acknowledge our Creator and Father as the Author of it all? For he has also brought order into our lives through Christ.

Camp News -- Our theme this year is Remember. This will be our last year at Box R Ranch so it is going to be a special one. We will be remembering all that God has done for us in this special place, as we also parallel that with His commands to Israel to always remember what He had done for them.
Camp dates are July 7-13. Camp cost is $165.00 with an early bird discount of $15.00 if your registration is paid in full by June 10th. Registration deadline will be June 25th. Camper ages are: completed third grade through Seniors graduated in 2013. We will have camper registrations available the first part of May.
Please make plans to join us for our last year at Box R Ranch - it will be a very special year!
